The first and most important task is to have a very personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Nothing else matters if that relationship is absent.
Second, be in a constant state of prayer. If you love the Lord you will want to spend time with him. Pray, pray and pray some more.
Third, be a constant student of the word. By that, I mean to be in the Bible always. I am glad you visited here but this site does not take the place of being in the Scriptures.
Finally, the mechanics of preaching; organization, presentation, speaking, etc. all improve with practice. Preach at every opportunity and preach like it’s the last sermon you will ever offer. Who knows, it may be!
